Summer news update - Bev Jones, Tim Murari and H R F Keating

Thu, June 06, 2019

We welcome the summer with news that Bev Jones’s “perfect thriller” Wilderness, recently published by Constable, who are reissuing all Bev’s backlist under the name of B. E. Jones, has been optioned for a multi-part series by Firebird Pictures, the BBC-backed production company founded by Liz Kilgarriff. Liz was responsible for Bodyguard, Luther, and The Cry, and in her view, “Wilderness is a clever psychological thriller that uses the familiar scenario of a marriage in crisis to take the reader on an entirely unpredictable journey. We love the humanity and humour in Bev’s writing and can’t wait to bring these hugely engaging characters to life.”

Bev said: “I think every author would love to see their stories brought to the screen, but to work with a company of the calibre of Firebird and its team is just fantastic. I couldn’t be more excited to help bring Wilderness to a whole new audience.”

This excellent deal was negotiated on behalf of Peter Buckman by James Carroll of Northbank Talent Management, and the full press release can be found here.

We’re also delighted to report that Timeri N. Murari’s novel The Arrangements of Love has been optioned by the India-based production company Guru Films.

Lastly, we are proud to announce that Ampersand have been appointed to represent the Estate of H R F (Harry) Keating, author of over 50 books, winner of the Crime Writers’ Association’s Cartier Diamond Dagger Award for outstanding services to crime literature, and creator of the immortal Inspector Ghote of the Bombay Police, who the New York Times described as “one of the great characters of the contemporary mystery novel”. Ghote featured in 25 books, and we look forward to seeing them reissued and entertaining a new generation of readers.
